Ramesh Shankar has founded “Hrishti” – joy forever, a social enterprise based out of Bangalore to find ways and means of giving back to society.
He was last the Executive Vice President & Country HR Head, Siemens India and South Asia based out of Mumbai till March 2019. when he retired. Ramesh was born in Trichy, Tamil Nadu and spent his formative years in Kolkata, Jabalpur, and Chennai, due to his father being in the government service.
Ramesh is a graduate in Chemistry and a post-graduate in Personnel Management from the University of Madras. He is also a keen observer and learner – reasons which drive him to pursue a ‘Fellowship in Management’ from XLRI, Jamshedpur.
He has presented papers on HR topics across national and international conferences and his papers have also been published in three books.
He started his career in 1981, as a Management Trainee in SAIL, Bhilai and spent 15 years there, before leaving the organization as a Senior Manager in 1995. He then spent the next 10 years with the Eicher Group from in Indore, Delhi, and Chennai in various HR and business roles. This was followed by a short stint in with Britannia in Bangalore (2005 – 2008) and Head – HR for ABB India (2008-2011). Throughout his career, Ramesh has been in HR, except for two line roles where he was the Business Head of an Eye Hospital during his stint at Eicher.
When not at work, Ramesh enjoys music, likes to travel and go for long drives & admires nature and holidaying with family.
He has authored two books so far in his life. “Sights & Insights” & “Life & Living”– targeted at students and young professionals so as to help them reflect on life and living. They are available on Amazon.in. & Flipkart.
