Project

Accenture was selected as a central DevOps transformation partner to scale DevOps for more than 18,000 IT professionals in one of the largest Global Investment Banking firms. The Accenture team managed the transformation with a focus on self-enablement across global business functions. This approach allowed them to move the firm from a slow-paced change to an agile powerhouse with an all-embracing experience. The team implemented four future-focused strategies across the enterprise grounded in a Tooling Roadmap, Capability Catalogue, Liquid Talent Model, and a Cloud & Architecture Roadmap.

Project

Vodafone UK partnered with Sandhata Technologies to undertake a transformation project to drive significant improvements in quality, throughput, productivity and team engagement by adopting DevOps best practices and behaviours. The key changes the team has delivered in the last years include full test automation and service virtualisation capability, self-service API dashboard, engaging with the DevOps community, and adapting to full-time working from home due to COVID. The team has delivered a monumental transformation to the business-critical Middleware application (VF-TIL), delivering end-to-end automation with API Deployment time. The application was able to reduce the time from 2 days to 15 minutes and resulted in an estimated cost saving of £3.3 million per year.

Project

CGI has a strong foundation & framework for DevOps & Agile implementation. During specific program implementation, CGI supported one of the prominent North American telecom clients for a customer order management system under the Business and Operational Support System domain. The platform includes various COTS products, complex technologies & diverse global teams. The objective of this program was to reduce time to market, and operational cost and the team was able to achieve a reduction of 50% in time to market and operational cost by 60%.

DevOps Talent Transformation Award

Project

An organization's product strategy and vision are significantly connected with how it will drive customer engagement. In a way, the teams in the organization drive the overall strategy and vision for the organization. People are about making sure we can grow and attract new people and, on the other hand, help current people to flourish. The process is about ensuring that we have the right tools and practices in place and the capability to use them well. Technology is about finding modern and efficient ways of doing things. At Visma Solutions, we decided to start transformation by formulating an organization to support transformation. Thus, the Lead team was responsible for bringing needed expertise and knowledge for transformation. The people coach team was taking charge to bring needed support to people's level to develop needed skills and knowledge and start a voluntary army for transformation.

Opsera was started in early 2020 with 4 resources in India and US, and with the pandemic upon us, we were under severe pressure to build the product and, at the same time, get the customers. To justify to the investors regarding the DevOps product we were building. Our obstacles were around scaling the team by hiring the right people across the globe and simultaneously acquiring new customers by the end of 2020. We were able to secure Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 organizations as our customers, and we managed to achieve our goal even before the one-year completion. Team Opsera's goal is to empower the development team to innovate faster and, at the same time, deliver the next-gen product to our customers. At the end of 2021 December, we reached the goal of 3X ARR, and our DevOps product continues to entice the entire industry.

The approach aims at creating an environment of inclusion, where diversity is highly appreciated. Our goal is to reach a 50/50 female to male employee ratio by 2025 and can be exemplified by the fact that over 30% of our global leadership consists of female professionals. Moreover, at Accenture UK, we want to inspire, support, and empower our people to invest in their health and well-being at work and home, for which we offer several programmes focusing on this, including Lifestyle + Healthy Minds Coaching, Partnership with BetterSpace, Person Working Disabilities Champion, LGBTQ+ Champion, and Cross-Cultural Champion and among others. SilverStorm is one of the oldest and most knowledgeable ServiceNow partners in Spain. With over 150 employees, SilverNow delivers solutions in more than 45 countries from our core locations, including Spain, Mexico, Israel, the USA, France, Portugal, and the UK. SilverStorm focused on continuous improvement while being employee-centric as part of the cultural transformation. The organization is committed to improving digitization while taking initiatives fulfilling its employee needs and improving the overall existing setup.

The NatWest Group focuses on building the bank's digital, data and technology capabilities as key enablers in supporting our customers' changing needs and expectations. To operate in a highly competitive market, where our customer behavior is changing rapidly - it is vital we accelerate and build upon an established DevOps culture in which our Feature teams rapidly experiment, adapt, and implement DevOps tools and practices to continuously release customer value securely and reliably leading to customers and colleagues delight. The DevOps Center of Excellence and DevOps Communities of Practice was responsible for driving the cultural change in the organization.

TUI is the world’s leading tourism group. The broad portfolio gathered under the Group umbrella consists of strong tour operators. It covers the entire tourism value chain under one roof. A key feature of their corporate culture is the global responsibility for economic, environmental and social sustainability. Their strong corporate culture reflects their longstanding commitment of over 20 years to sustainable tourism. In 2019, the TUI Group, with a headcount of around 70,000, recorded a turnover of about €19bn and an operating result of €893 Mio. Aon is a multinational Global professional services firm that offers a range of financial risk-mitigation products, including insurance, pension administration, and health insurance plans. AON built the Aon United Blueprint model to best harness this period of growth. There are 14+ Workstreams (Initiatives) in this community timeboxed considering Enable, Scale, Mature, and Measure elements. Community Members lead business value-driven workstream groups aligned to the DCoP strategy. Each Community Member must dedicate 2-4 hours weekly and align outcomes to annual performance goals. The DCoP closely mirrors the best practices utilized by technology communities.

DevOps Business Value Award

Project

Honeywell International Inc. is an American publicly traded, multinational conglomerate corporation in Charlotte, North Carolina. For more than 100 years, Honeywell has provided innovative solutions and technologies across four areas of business: aerospace building technologies, performance materials and technologies, and safety and productivity solutions. To keep pace with digital transformation and innovation, the Honeywell Engineering team adapts to modern software delivery practices and tools to stay ahead. DevOps is one of those practices. Two years into the Honeywell transformation, they have already realized the benefits of implementing DevOps, such as 43% reduced production deployment times, 30% productivity savings, and more than 15 SDLC, SaaS, COTs, and technology platforms onboarded. In addition, there were other benefits that Honewell was able to reap, including +8% quality posture, 30% increase in DevOps maturity, 65% increase in deployment cycle, 100% automation of CI/CD pipelines, and trained 800+ team members.

Project

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is an IT services, consulting, and business solutions organization partnering with many of the world’s largest businesses in their transformation journeys for over 50 years. Ultimatix, TCS Internal IT, followed a multi-stage approach with a holistic vision. With delivery practices reimagined, speed to market improved and worked as an efficient channel to accelerate all strategic initiatives. In addition, Ultimatix adopted TCS proprietary DevSecOps Assessment Framework (DART) for effective adoption of DevSecOps practices. By following DevSecOps, TCS gained success through a 95% reduction in the Change Lead Time, 90% reduction in human effort in SDLC activities, 106 person-years worth of human effort savings through automation, 77% improvement in application availability, Zero downtime deployments for a set of products leveraging automated infrastructure provisioning and blue-green deployments, and 100% automated application code review. Presently, Ultimatix maintains 7 hours average change lead time and 4 hours of average machine effort per release.

Project

EY teams carried out the “Value Stream Mapping” exercise for about a week to solve process-related challenges by building robust processes ensuring timely adherence to identify all the bottlenecks. The movement revealed all the problems existing across processes that were picked up during the project. The DevOps-led approach created a real impact for clients and transformed how the EY Comply platform was shaped up as a cloud-first platform. The initial phase of transformation was challenging. It involved convincing and aligning all the key players to a common goal by unlearning the old way of working and learning the DevOps way of working.

DevOps Learning Solution Excellence Award

Project

Ordina is originally one of the largest independent specialist IT service providers. Ordina offers a wide range of in-company training courses for its clients. Certified trainers give this training in Agile, DASA DevOps, Lean, Product Owners & Design Thinking. Ordina'sOrdina's direct dialogue with the consumer'sclient's team enables the quick application of DevOps learning in day-to-day practice. The help of learning and development, Knowledge transfer, Translation to daily practice, and Practical Impact, among others, help Ordina build great rapport with their clients.

Project

A few years ago, GamingWorks built a business simulation called The Phoenix Project based on the book by Gene Kim. They received the exclusive rights to use the name, look and feel, and scenario to build this simulation through that simulation. Since then, GamingWorks has over 100 partners in 60 countries using this simulation to support all kinds of DevOps initiatives. The simulations are used to support DevOps training, like adding the simulation to all traditional DevOps training or fully integrating the simulation as a practical exercise. Also, partners use this simulation to support DevOps implementations for companies. GamingWorks also has a large group of end-customers (Vodafone, Volvo, OP, Bosch) trained their consultants and coaching to use the simulation to support teams in applying DevOps. Using the simulation brought many of the people who followed traditional training and were able to pass the exam to the level of understanding of what DevOps means.

Project

Eficode is also an Atlassian Platinum partner in 5 countries, Agile at Scale Specialized Partner of Atlassian, and Scaled Agile Gold partner. It provides all the Atlassian and Agile services — from expert consulting, cloud transformation, and Eficode ROOT managed services to training and license sales. The online Pipeline game is a pandemic-proof online version of the popular Pipeline card game. Eficode ROOT brings together over 60 tools and provides centralized access control and real-time visibility to the software development lifecycle. Eficode helps organizations become better at DevOps by assessing capabilities, providing a future-proof roadmap, defining and building development metrics, coaching teams, advising teams on the right processes and tools, and turning plans into actions.

Partnership for DevOps Project Award

Project

With the synergy between our team and Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the arrival of our new DevOps platform, we were able to empower the development squads by allowing them to create, maintain and monitor their cloud resources quickly, effectively and securely. With this we were able to drastically reduce the repetitive activities we had and we are now using this time to bring innovations that help us in our main objective, which is to improve the experience of our developers to deliver even more value to Natura’s consultants and consumers with innovative products. To achieve this level of autonomy without losing governance, the CoE relies on a structure of engineers specialized in Cloud, Automation, and DevOps, called Cloud Platform Engineers (CPE), who today are responsible for implementing, evolving and maintaining the group's DevOps platform with the entire DevOps stack, from the provisioning until monitoring. In the end, squads, through DevOps engineers and developers, can provision their infrastructure for the evolution of their product without having to write a single line of cloud infrastructure scripts.

This initiative was not just the creation of a CoE, but the implementation of a new structure at Natura. With the new model, its area and the other centers of excellence are guaranteeing more and more autonomy for the business areas. Since this implementation, we had deliveries that brought up to 78% reduction in cloud costs on company's products without the participation of the team of specialized engineers and fully led and delivered by the squad. We empowered the product areas without losing governance and control.

Project

A joint team was created between VM (Virgin Media) and ACN (Accenture) with direct reporting into the C suite to address how to create a left-shifted security approach. We followed a Kanban approach to deliver this. Accenture brought in a multi-geography team (UK, North America, Czech Republic and India) to ensure the best of the breed DevOps and security SMEs and niche skills (e.g., Google Anthos) were available, while effectively utilising the follow the Sun model for more hours/day. The project goal was to deliver a content management system application onto a development environment built on Google Anthos; utilise tools for SAST, SCA, DAST, container security and threat modelling (Whitehat, Veracode, Sysdig, Irius Risk) all integrated with Gitlab Ultimate to provide a single pane of glass.

Sandhata has been delivering DevOps services for the Vodafone UK Integration Domain since 2005. From the beginning we have been a driving force in encouraging and supporting Vodafone UK to reassess their IT estate, identify where they need to make improvements, and working closely with them to plan and deliver these changes.

Sandhata has delivered a wide variety of projects for Vodafone since 2019: TIL Transformation Project (2019-2022), Cloud Containerisation Proof of Concept (2021), Bespoke API Catalogue built from scratch (2020-2021).

Vodafone’s Middleware (VF-TIL) is their single largest application stack that integrates over 160+ business and network applications in real-time, processing 100 million messages per day across 1000+ API’s on an environment with legacy, proprietary and cloud applications.

Vodafone UK’s ability to deliver changes and expose APIs is a critical pre-requisite to evolve their digital technology stack and address customer demand.

TCS embarked on its Enterprise Agile transformation journey in 2017. TCS strongly believed that Agile as a new way of working is not just limited to IT development, but the potential is larger. TCS derived a methodological approach around 4 transformation pillars – Workforce, Workplace, Internal processes and Service delivery. The service delivery pillar includes DevOps transformation and is divided into 3 SPECTRUMS: Innovation for customer/industry challenges, CONSOLIDATING CAPABILITIES/EXPERTISE and DEVOPS TRANSFORMATION AT SCALE.

Renzo Petri

Project

Renzo Petri was born in 1988 in a small city called Piracaia in Sao Paulo State, Brazil. He has always been passionate about technology and started programming in 2004. He graduated in Computer Science and Postgraduate in Business and Management with a Specialization in Strategy, People and Technology. He has worked on complex IT projects for over 15 years. He was recently promoted to IT Director because of all the contributions and innovations initiatives he spearheaded. He is a leader in Cloud, DevOps, and Architecture for the company and has ensured smooth digital transformation while always focusing on increasing business over technology.

Punit Bhatia

Project

Punit Bhatia, Head of Engineering, Vodafone UK, has been a real champion of DevOps ways of working, focusing on having a strong impact on the business, and implementing changes that had a huge impact within Vodafone UK middleware and across other domains. Punit has also been a champion of service virtualisation in Vodafone UK, a key enabler of DevOps to reduce dependencies and enable full automation for any system with external system integrations. He has worked alongside multiple other domains within Vodafone to identify opportunities for automation and implement efficiencies and cost savings by rolling out a framework of shared virtual services which are reused and require low overheads to develop and maintain.

Arvind Rathore

Project

Arvind is an Industry leader who drives Agile and DevOps ways of working to revolutionize 21st century organizations. He feels by adopting and ingraining Agile and DevOps ways of working into their DNA, organizations today can innovate and deliver quality products and services to their customers while engaging their employees in unprecedented ways. Subsequently, creating a win-win for all the stakeholders. Arvind has been tirelessly and passionately working to advocate and expand the DevOps and Agile movement with that background. He has been a practitioner and early adopter himself of using Agile and DevOps ways of working in his projects and programs in the early 2000s when the whole Agile Manifesto and DevOps way of working were still in the nascent stage.

Outstanding DevOps Coach Award

Marian Draganov

Project

Marian Draganov inspired the SilverStorm management, in Q4 2021, on 4 pillars of Transformation Consulting and introduced: Digital Transformation Strategy, Organizational Change Management, Agile Methods & Innovation and Operational Excellence. While guiding the successful DevOps transformation of SilverStorm, Marian managed his coaching transformation from a Product Owner for the DevOps transformation and a lead of 6 agile coaches for a large department in a multinational company to a standalone DevOps Coach for a mid-sized consulting company based primarily in Spain. The major challenges that Marian had to overcome to guide the transformation successfully included improving the existing setup, emphasizing more on How rather than on What during the transformation journey, and considering their journey as his own to lead it. He did achieve and overcome the challenges by introducing people to DevOps & Agile practices, inspiring colleagues to take action and create powerful coalitions, and improving the existing setup.

Sam Rosbergen

Project

Sam Rosbergen is a seasoned transformational coach. He has worked with ABN-AMRO Agile to DevOps way of working transformation for Brunel (Jan 2018-Feb 2020). The transformation approach was carefully planned and well supported by a dedicated transformation team present there. Sam helped teams understand their responsibilities, ITIL processes, and voyage to AWS/Azure cloud by providing training, recording internal training videos on the Kultura platform, mentoring, and giving consultancy advice for the Control Tower.

Luis Gomez

Project

Luis Gomez is associated with SQLI Digital Experience, a European digital services company that defines, builds and grows the digital business value of international A-brands. He is a certified DASA DevOps Coach Trainer. He has closely worked with Kairos, an IT company focusing on offering the best talent for the best projects to the biggest companies in Spain. Luis was one of the prominent members and helped develop an amazing DevOps Capacity. In addition, he also supported several organizations to realize that the CI/CD Journey needs the DevOps Mindset. He also helped make training and community for Management layers on DevOps Coach, Leader and PO and pushed Developer teams to understand how to be involved in the operations layer. Luis is actively involved in helping organizations analyze, define and begin their DevOps Journey toward CI/CD with the help of the DevOps Assessment tool. With the help of the DASA DevOps Coach program, Luis is equipped with the right tools to work with Multicultural and International Teams. Luis considers one of his biggest achievements to date is the development of teams and facilitating the personal and professional growth of every single member.

Clara Erica Castro

Project

I have been working with technology for more than 24 years, mostly in large companies in the banking and insurance sectors. In the last 9 years, I consolidated my knowledge in Quality, Agile methods, and DevOps. I participated in the Santander Bank's digital transformation, one of the five biggest banks in Brazil. Today I work as Head of DevOps and use my knowledge and skills in the digital transformation of Cooperativa Central Ailos. At Santander, I had influenced the decisions to release software by using a static analysis of source code locally, for that software without a pipeline. In this case, the developments' teams could receive previously a view of the software’s health and manage to achieve the defined standards to release it to the production environment.

Main results of Shift-Left and DevOps actions:

- 265% increase in pipeline usage over the previous year;

- Reduction of 105 hours of manual work per month;

- Reduction of lead time from 15 days to 1 hour to take a code from Git to Production;

- Savings of more than 54 thousand hours per month;

- Increasing of test coverage (from 0% to 80%);

- Reduction of bugs and vulnerabilities in legacy projects;

- Blocking of 43mil issues among bugs, vulnerability and code smells.

Clifford Berg

Project

In the recent book "Agile 2", for which I was the lead author, we cover many DevOps topics and explain how those are an integral part of agility - and how one cannot separate agility from the flow-based and feedback loops of DevOps. We have given numerous talks about this (some are listed at https://agile2.net), and continue to do so. My company Agile 2 Academy also provides DevOps training that is accessible to Agile coaches, and we also advocate for DASA, which has an industry's best-in-class DevOps and Agile education model. Ayelet Sachto

Project

Ayelet is a Strategic Cloud Engineer at Google and a passionate problem solver. She joined Google in 2019 as a Strategic Cloud Engineer focused on infrastructure and App modernization and quickly started leading PSO-SRE efforts in EMEA; this year, she is on rotation with GKE-SRE where her responsibilities are focused on reliability and data integrity.

Ayelet has established an impressive 17 years of deep experience focusing on engineering excellence across various companies, including Intel, PitneyBowes, Websense and her own startup. Throughout her career, she successfully led several cloud migrations, developed and architected large scale applications and data flows while implementing DevOps practices and SRE methodologies.

Ayelet is also an active member in the tech community. She is a mentor, lecturer, and former lead of the “Women in Hi-Tech” community’s content and mentoring program in Israel. In her spare time, Ayelet loves creating things if it’s a dish in the kitchen, piece of code or creating impactful content.
